Primary Responsibilities: Design (CATIA) of instrument panel sheet metal structure for the Chrysler 1994-1/2 JA vehicle.

Including:

  • Packaging of the passenger SIR (airbag), entertainment center, HVAC controls and instrument cluster.

  • Design of driver and passenger knee bolster.

  • Design of plastic glove box inner, outer and bin.

  • Design and development of new plastic glove box latch assembly that provided a cost and mass reduction as well as reduced part proliferation.

Primary Responsibilities: Supervise CATIA designers in the packaging, design and detail of plastic interior and steel exterior vehicle components.

Primary Responsibilities: Design integration of the 2 point power passive (domestic) and 3 point active (export) restraint systems for the 1991 coupe and sedan models.

Including:

  • Design of sheet metal structure and plastic garnish moldings in areas of restraint system interface.

  • Design of component hardware such as attaching brackets, aluminum track (for transporting belt between A pillar and B pillar), retractor frame, latch plates, plastic bezels and sheaths, etc.

  • Assisted in packaging of airbag module and sensors.

  • Supervise design team consisting of contract and supplier design personnel. Build coordinator for concept, demo and pre-production vehicle builds for wipers, mirrors, front and rear restraints.

  • Train contract and supplier design personnel in the use of CATIA.

  • Prepare, maintain and databank all restraint system layouts.

  • Member of restraints sourcing team, member of restraints side frame, underbody, console and garnish moldings product development teams.

  • Coauthored restraint sourcing document.  Member of several employee appraisal teams.


General Motors Corporation, CPC, Warren, MI  9/85 - 4/86

Primary Responsibilities: Design integration of the 3 point passive (door mounted) restraint system for the 1989 Chevrolet W sedan.

Including:

  • Packaging and design of component hardware.

  • Supervised development of models and prototypes.

  • Redesign mating sheet metal and trim in areas of restraint system interface.

  • Directed affected groups in implementation of design.


Fisher Guide, General Motors Corporation, Anderson, IN  10/84 - 9/85
Senior Designer (contract)

Primary Responsibilities: Designed and developed plastic composite headlamp (flush mount) for the 1989 Chevrolet W sedan.

Including:

  • Design of patented method of attaching headlamp to vehicle that resulted in a part reduction and a cost and mass savings.

  • Liaison between Fisher Guide (Anderson, IN) and Chevrolet (Warren, MI).

Primary Responsibilities: Supervise draftsmen in the design and packaging of audio system components.
