CATIA® is a registered trademark of Dassault Systemes and has no affiliation with Practical Catia Training. INTRODUCTION Hello, my name is Keith Childress. I am the founder of Practical Catia Training. I'd like to welcome you to our school's web site, and thank you for taking the time to pay us a visit. I've been involved in the design and engineering profession for more than 35 years. I'm a 1980 graduate of the Batavia School of Drafting and a 1982 graduated of the prestigious Philpot School of Automotive Body Drafting. I am also a former Batavia/Philpot School's instructor. I am a CATIA Certified Professional and have been working with the CATIA software since 1986 and have been teaching people to use the software for more than 25 years. I was responsible for the design and engineering of the restraint systems for the first two production Saturn vehicles, and was the Project Engineer for the Plymouth Prowler, responsible for all "body-in-white" panels. I'm proud to have have been awarded US Patents for the composite headlight assembly that I designed for GM's "W" Car (Lumina), and for the two seatbelt related components (dropping safety latch & seat belt cable mount) for the Saturn vehicle. I have have written articles that have appeared in worldwide trade publications, including: CATIA Solutions, ProE , and Solid Solutions magazines. I have also been invited to speak at numerous high schools, technical schools, and colleges as an industry expert guest lecturer over the past 25 years. My family and I founded our Practical Catia Training school in 1995 and have been providing CATIA training longer than any other training organization in the USA. Our Practical Catia Training course is based on our (me and my sons) combined 30+ years in the design/engineering profession and combined 25+ years using the CATIA software. Our course is designed to teach you what you need to know to go to work using the CATIA software immediately. We use many of the components we've designed during our careers as an aid in teaching our students how to use the CATIA software. Our methodology for using the CATIA software applies to all disciplines (automotive, aerospace, tooling, fixtures, special machines, etc.). We're proud of the outstanding reputation our school has earned over the years. Because of our outstanding reputation, IBM and its Business Partner MSC Software asked to advertise on our school's top-ranked practicalcatia.com websites beginning in 2001 as a means of promoting the new CATIA V5 software. In 2004, IBM's partner, Dassault Systemes (the French company that owns of the CATIA software), followed IBM and MSC Software's lead when they contacted us with a request to advertise its new Global Certification Program on the our school's website. We agreed and Dassault's banner ads appeared on our website for the next several years. (Click here to view Dassault's email and banner ads) In 2003, we pioneered the use of the internet to provide online CATIA training and became the first (and only) training organization to offer live one-on-one online CATIA training across the USA and around the world. By 2010, our live online CATIA training had become so popular that we closed our brick-and-mortar school and focused 100% of our attention on our live online CATIA training. Please click here for more information regarding our live online CATIA training. We are also the only training organization to provide discounted training to the unemployed and to individuals who are currently employed but paying for the training out of their own pockets.
